Just imagine that leaves turn yellow, a cold wind blows and, perhaps, it even rains. After a working day, you return back home, where the children are already waiting. It is dark outside, your hands feel cold, and your mouth steams with every breath. And just like that, opening the door into the house, you immediately hear the voices of your beloved family. And something else – the sound of a crackling firewood in a cosy chimney that "looks" at you from the very doorstep. And we know that a person is warmed by the love of close ones. Meanwhile, a fireplace takes care of the house. After all, even here, in Provence, cold evenings happen.
In this living room, life revolves around the fireplace. Raw and imposing, we`ve made it the central element of the room. Its foundation extends along the entire wall. We covered it with a huge rock block from the Carrières de Sarragan. Hence, it naturally turned into a small bench for books, flowers, or welcome guests who wants to sit closer to the fire.
Less is more
Seasons starts to change - everywhere, except Provence. With 300 sunny days it feels like the time here got frozen.
There`s no better frame for the grey stone than the one made of green leaves. There`s no better leaves than the one covered with a morning dew. Now in Provence we enjoy this very special time - to wake up early for a barefoot walk, breathe deeply and prepare for another beautiful day.

In our projects, we strive to preserve or create a beauty through the simplicity of the past. These stairs are made with stones that have already seen everything, experienced everything: joy, sorrow, laughter, love. So much patina of time lived by people who have walked here. The house is the theatre stage of life.

« Have nor you yourselves sensed a difference in the light that suffuses such a room, a rare tranquility not found in ordinary light? Have you never felt a sort of fear in the face of the ageless, a fear that in that room you might lose all consciousnesses of the passage of time, that untold years might pass and upon emerging you should find you had frown old and gray? » Jun'ichirō Tanizaki

From the beginning, we designed these small stairs as a wrap around the walls - all together it`s like a sculpture in the living room. We can climb it or pass under, we appear and than disappear a few seconds later. The stairs becomes a game itself: for the theatrical decoration, for a costume parade and, of course, it`s a perfect place for playful children who never want to go to bed.

It's a great responsibility to create landscape design right there, in the middle of Alpilles. Where the nature couldn`t be more perfect: "Look but don`t touch".

This guest house is located on a hill next to the main house of the owner - our client. Developing this project, we’ve faced an interesting challenge: to keep the view from the main residence to the picturesque national park and at the same time create a spacious house for friends. Our team found a non-standard solution - to expand the house not up, but down. As a result, two additional bedrooms with bathrooms, a fitness and relaxation area, as well as utility rooms appeared on the ground floor. All rooms there have a sufficient level of insolation due to the wide patio we designed. That’s how “win-win” looks, with no compromise.
